A studio, not a unit with a heat gun

SK Zone is a vehicle styling studio in the middle of Stockport. Everything we do is about how a car looks and how well that look survives contact with a British winter — colour changes in vinyl, clear film over the panels that take stone chips, glass, interior light, body styling and wheels.
Styling is a trade with a very wide quality range and almost no way for a customer to tell the difference at the point of sale. Two shops will quote a full wrap on the same car and one price will be half the other. What you are actually buying with the difference is preparation time, cast film rather than calendered, handles and badges removed instead of cut around, and the film tucked into the panel edges rather than trimmed flush at the seam. None of that is visible on day one. All of it is visible in summer two.
So we would rather explain it than argue about the number. Ask us why a job is two days, ask what film we are using, and ask what happens at the edges. If a shop cannot answer those three questions, the price difference is telling you something.
We keep 7 finish families on the wall — gloss through satin, matte, carbon, brushed metal, colour-shift and chrome — and we would encourage anybody to come and look at them under a light rather than on a phone screen. Satin and matte in particular photograph almost identically and look nothing like each other in person.
Through our partnership with International Alloys we also supply wheels from the major brands, fitment-checked against your registration for PCD, offset and centre bore before anything is ordered, with tyres off a live trade feed. A set of wheels and a chrome delete is the cheapest transformation there is.
How we work
We check the paint before we sell you film
Vinyl follows the surface it is laid on. Dents and deep scratches telegraph through it, and lacquer that is already failing will come away with the film when it is removed. We look for resprayed panels and lifting clear coat before anything is ordered, and we tell you what we find even when the answer costs us the job.
We will not fit an illegal tint
The front side windows must let 70% of light through and the windscreen 75% — glass and film together, not the film on its own. Fitting darker than that is selling somebody a prohibition notice. The rears have no limit and that is where the privacy actually comes from, so that is where we put it.
Panels come out
Trim wrapped in the car has a visible cut line at every edge. Lighting stuck to the outside of a door card looks stuck on. A starlight roof done without dropping the headliner is fibres glued to cloth. Doing it properly is most of why our jobs take two days instead of one afternoon.
We say no when the answer is no
We turn away wraps over failing paint, front tints below the legal limit, blacked-out rear lamps and body kits with panel gaps no amount of filler will rescue. We would rather lose the sale than hand somebody a problem with our name on it.

Two things we will always tell you
Tell the DVLA. If a wrap changes the colour of your car, the colour on your V5C has to be updated. It is free and it takes minutes, and we will remind you when you collect the car.
Tell your insurer. Wraps, body kits and non-standard wheels are declarable modifications. Most policies charge little or nothing for cosmetic work, and an undeclared modification can void a claim entirely. A five-minute phone call.
